"The child is made of one hundred.
The child has
a hundred languages
a hundred hands
a hundred thoughts
a hundred ways of thinking
of playing, of speaking."
The Hundred Languages poem,
written by Loris Malaguzzi,
founder of the Reggio Emilia Philosopy
As a measure of quality programming, each child's journey within the Centre is closely documented by regular notation, daily communication with parents, personal portfolios and bi-annual parent/faculty interviews.
Our Centre is spacious with naturally lit classrooms reflecting learning opportunities with a Reggio Emilia influence. We have a private fenced playground as well as access to the school's gymnasium for the inclement Alberta days.
Each child requires a healthy and well balanced diet. Our Centre offers a morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack created with all natural ingredients by our in-house Chef. Menus are posted for review by parents. Alterations may be made to help accommodate children with allergies or other dietary needs.
A variety of additional activities are offered throughout the year, such as: Physical education at the University of Alberta, music and art appreciation, exploration of languages and culture, aquatics at the University of Alberta and several educational field trips. We are also proud to collaborate with the University of Alberta and welcome students from various faculties to work with our children as they explore their education and pursuits of their professional careers in early education.
The program is structured for small groups and includes activities to enhance the children's interests in language, music, sciences, math, motor skills, creative and dramatic arts.
Our Centre offers inquiry based early learning program inspired by Reggio Emilia core values which focuses on emotional and social development; as well as promotes cognitive, creative and physical growth. Our centre is also very proud to embrace inclusive learning and designs the early learning program to wholistically accommodate children of all learning and developmental needs and learning styles.
